How child benefit works
SVB kinderbijslag — fixed amounts, paid quarterly
Laatst gecontroleerd: 24 May 2026
Child benefit is a fixed payment per child per quarter from SVB (Social Insurance Bank).
The amount depends on the child's age band. There is no income test.
Quarterly amounts (indicative 2025)
Always confirm on svb.nl
Ages 0–5: about € 279 per quarter per child.
Ages 6–11: about € 339 per quarter.
Ages 12–17: about € 400 per quarter.
Common mistakes
- Thinking you must apply every quarter (usually automatic).
- Confusing child benefit with child-related budget (kindgebonden budget) — different scheme.
